The Opportunity
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our residents.
In this role you will assess treat and support residents experiencing challenges with function and adaptive behavior. Your work will help residents develop maintain and regain independence in the areas of self-care productivity and leisure enhancing their quality of life in a supportive care environment.
You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality person-centered occupational therapy services that promote independence safety and well-being.
What Youll Do
As an Occupational Therapist you will play a key role in delivering quality care through the following processes:
Assessment
Conduct comprehensive resident assessments upon admission and on an ongoing basis.
Identify functional abilities and areas requiring therapeutic support.
Contribute to the development of individualized care plans.
Care Planning & Collaboration
Develop treatment goals and therapy plans tailored to each resident.
Communicate plans and progress with the Occupational Therapy team and interdisciplinary care team.
Participate in resident care conferences and therapy rounds.
Treatment Implementation
Deliver therapeutic programs that support resident goals and functional improvement.
Encourage active resident participation in therapy and wellness programs.
Provide interventions that promote health prevent injury and improve comfort.
Evaluation & Progress Monitoring
Monitor and evaluate resident progress toward treatment goals.
Adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
Documentation & Professional Practice
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Deliver care in accordance with Occupational Therapy standards safety practices and ethical guidelines.
Practice in compliance with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics and applicable provincial regulations.
Resident Safety & Quality Care
Provide direct resident care in a safe and supportive environment.
Identify and report safety concerns and collaborate on solutions with leadership and the care team.
Advocate for best practices and continuous improvement in resident care.
What You Bring
Registration in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory body and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
Bachelors degree in occupational therapy or completion of a Rehabilitation Therapist Diploma.
Experience in continuing care long-term care or gerontology is preferred.
Strong passion for advocating for the role of occupational therapy in improving resident quality of life.
Compassion empathy and a genuine desire to help others.
Excellent organizational interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
Minimum two years of geriatric clinical experience preferred.
Ability to build positive relationships with residents families and staff.
A current Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months) including Criminal Background Check or willingness to obtain one.
