Job Summary

Caterpillar is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team focused on genset applications. This role is critical in delivering high-performance compliant and manufacturable solutions. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in mechanical design and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with global teams

Role Definition

Serve as a senior technical individual contributor with full accountability for the endtoend design and development of large (>2 MW) diesel genset packages. Lead and deliver complex highimpact engineering initiatives driving technical excellence from concept definition through detailed design rigorous validation and successful global production release.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of Genset package from concept selection through detailed design ensuring compliance with Caterpillars engineering standards and regional regulations.
• Technical Expertise: Provide strong technical leadership with deep knowledge of engineering fundamentals structural design & fabrication. Understanding FEA inputs and effectively interpret analysis results to convert them into robust design solutions.
• Manufacturing: In-depth knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) material selection welding engineering drawings manufacturing processes and package Bill of Material (BOM).
• Interface & Cross Functional Collaboration: Lead interface management across global cross functional engineering teams and suppliers to ensure holistic package fitment system integration and functional integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
• Design Optimization: Apply engineering principles and analytical insights to optimize designs for manufacturability performance durability cost effectiveness and ease of assembly.

Experience required

• Strong engineering fundamentals including hands-ondesign calculations structural analysis and the ability to interpret and apply FEA results to develop robust compliant designs.
• Proven expertise instructural and fabrication design including sheet metal design and integration of large assemblies.
• Demonstrated experience deliveringmanufacturing ready designs with solid knowledge of GD&T materials welding practices engineering drawings and BOM development.
• Proficiency in3D CAD modelling detailing and design validation(Creo or equivalent) within an industrial product development environment.
• Strong project management with track record of leading or executingcomplex high-impact engineering programsin regulated global manufacturing organizations meeting quality cost and schedule commitments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors/masters degree in mechanical engineering with minimum experience of 8 years in relevant field.
• 3 years of experience working on sheet metal design and handling large assemblies.
