The Opportunity:
Were looking for an intern to join our strategic procurement team for a 4-month opportunity. The strategic procurement team supports Vancity by:
- Driving enterprise value and cost efficiency by leading sourcing contracting and procureâtoâpay strategies that reduce total cost of ownership and improve outcomes across the organization
- Ensuring strong governance and regulatory compliance for thirdâparty arrangements aligning procurement practices with financialâservices regulations and internal risk standards
- Partnering with business lines to provide strategic advice run competitive sourcing processes support operational purchasing and lead major initiatives with consistent compliant procurement practices
- Embeding Vancitys values and ESG commitments into purchasing decisions including environmental and social impact considerations across suppliers and contracts
This role will report in to a senior manager of strategic procurement.
A typical day would involve:
Procure to Pay (P2P):
- Validating & paying invoices for operational suppliers
- Assisting with data cleanup in the organization-wide contract repository
- Assisting with project work as assigned (improvements to contract repository assisting with changes to our intranet page assisting procurement specialists)
- Learning opportunities via participating in department meetings and discussion
Source to Contract (S2C):
- Supporting Strategic Procurement Leadsin various procurement process tasks
- Shadowing Strategic Procurement Leadsin various RFx processes
- Assisting with procurement work as assigned (uploads to contract repository templates/tools review updates & modifications work tracker maintenance/improvement assisting with document prep SSPL/SPLs)
- Taking on departmental improvement projects related to processes procedures systems and technology tools
You are:
- Results-Oriented - You have a demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders to elicit requirements gathering analyze findings generate appropriate solutions and build deliverables all while securing teams commitment to these solutions.
- Technology Savvy - You have education and/or experience supporting technology development/ implementation efforts.
- Critical Thinker - You seek to facilitate data-driven decision making including rolling up your sleeves to elicit requirements research analyze data
- A Problem Solver - Your skills to diagnose challenges and issues develop innovative business solutions and assess risks and opportunities that may affect the business are showcased on a daily basis.
- Curious & innovative - You always do your research and analyze it to assess and recommend a course of action considering industry best practices
- A team player - you can engage with members of your team as well as cross-functional teams and are willing to collaborate across projects and initiatives.
You have:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program within an applicable field and eligible for co-op/internship opportunities
- An interest in procurement processes and source to pay procurement technologies
- A willingness to work in a highly flexible environment with multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent written and oral communications
- A high level of attention to detail
Bonus points if you have:
- Tactical purchasing experience source to pay procurement technologies
- Exposure to AI
- Experience with Microsoft office suite including SharePoint
What Youll Earn:
This role offers a pay range of $27.85/hr.
