Job Summary:

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is seeking a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician to join the Division of Sports Medicine. The position will include:

  • Clinical care within the UW Health Sports Medicine Clinics

  • Service as a team physician for the Wisconsin Badger Athletes (including weekly clinic pre-participation physicals and sideline coverage)

  • The potential for other team physician roles with preprofessional and professional sports teams within the Madison area.

Athletics coverage may will include daytime evening and weekend coverage of events year-round including some travel for away games and tournaments.

This position will be involved in teaching medical students residents and fellows as well as other learners both within the context of clinical practice on the sidelines of sports events and in formally scheduled didactic teaching sessions.

This position will be encouraged to participate in research within the divisions strong multi-disciplinary team-science environment. Time and other departmental school and campus-wide resources are available to promote scholarly work within the candidates area(s) of interest.

This position may also include opportunities to work on collaborative initiatives within the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health.

  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles; Clinical Assistant Professor Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor Assistant Professor (CHS) Associate Professor (CHS) Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

  • Must provide a valid drivers license. Employees may use their own transportation or receive approval for University Car Fleet usage. Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

  • Teach medical students residents and fellows.

Department:

School of Medicine and Public Health Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation Sports Medicine

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation consists of 64 faculty and 55 advanced practice providers in eight subspecialty divisions/sections seven fellows across five fellowship programs and 40 residents between two residency programs. The division of Sports Medicine consists of 14 faculty physicians (six primary care sports medicine physicians and eight orthopedic sports surgeons) who provide cutting-edge clinical care serve as the team physicians for the University of Wisconsin Badger Athletics and professional sports teams within Dane County.

Compensation:

Negotiable 12 month

Required Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Additional Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine by start date

  • WI Medical license by start date of position.

  • Board-certified or board eligible in American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Board of Pediatrics (ABOP) by start date of position.

  • Completion of a US Family Medicine or Pediatrics residency and fellowship trained in Sports Medicine by the start date of the position.

  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT track.

Education:

MD or DO or equivalent required
