Job Summary

Job Title: Drafting/CAD Technician II

Location: Concord NC 28026

Shift Timings: M-F 8am-5pm base schedule; OT is often required: 45 hours per week target.

Note: Interview Process: 1 Phone screen or Teams call. 2 In Person Interview. Employment will be through a third party on a contract basis. Contracts will be 1 year in length and are often extended with satisfactory performance and additional project workload.

Summary of Job:

As a member of a global drafting department you will assist in the creation revision and storage of electronic drawing files (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD) for custom designed process equipment located in numerous worldwide Optical Fiber and Cable manufacturing locations.

Must-have/Required skills:

Minimum of 2 years professional experience in the mechanical drafting field.
Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards.
Proficient in the use of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault software.
General Windows-based computer skills.
Ability to adapt to company standards and guidelines.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong work ethic.
One of the following educational qualifications:
- A.A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology degree.
- A.O.S. Drafting/CAD degree.
- Drafting Certificate/Certification.
- Candidates without degrees must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting.

Nice-to-have Skills:

Experience working with AutoCAD drawings.
Experience supporting engineering or development teams with drafting documentation.
Experience working with sheet metal weldment detail and assembly drawings.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist the area drafting lead with completing all required work to an engineering/development drawing set prior to release into Autodesk Vault.
Create 3D models and associated drawings or edit existing models and drawings while ensuring they follow company drafting standards.
Correct redlined models and drawings issued by drafting lead or engineering/development teams.
Convert legacy hand drawn and AutoCAD drawings into 3D models and associative drawings.
Create 2D drawings from existing 3D models created by other users.
Collect data from engineering teams and incorporate information into appropriate drawings.
Collect measurements and information from the production floor and incorporate into drawings.
Ensure drawings follow company drafting standards including detail sheet metal weldment and assembly drawings.
