The Opportunity:

Were looking for an intern to join our Enterprise Regulatory Compliance team for a 4-month opportunity. The Enterprise Regulatory Compliance team at Vancity oversees regulatory compliance risk privacy risk and anti-money laundering/anti-terrorist financing risk for Vancity and its subsidiaries. We provide oversight and guidance to all areas of the organization. This role sits within the Enterprise Regulatory Compliance team and reports into the Director Regulatory Compliance.

A typical day would involve:

  • Following up on regulatory compliance issues to ensure they are appropriately documented risk assessed owned and have suitable action plans.
  • Supporting the Regulatory Compliance team with establishing processes to run an effective Compliance Department e.g. managing requests from Regulators managing regulatory changes dealing with advisory requests from across Vancity and Vancouver Community Investment Bank (VCIB).
  • Supporting development of key risk and control reporting of regulatory compliance risks and assist with design and maintenance of risk dashboards.
  • Supporting culture change across Vancity by helping organize outreach and training for business partners.
  • Providing support to the Regulatory Compliance team on various projects to enhance compliance across Vancity.

You have:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program within an applicable field and eligible for co-op/internship opportunities
  • An interest in regulatory compliance or law
  • Process improvement and data tracking skills
  • Familiarity with Excel SharePoint or Power BI
  • A willingness to work in a highly flexible environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and visual communications
  • A high level of attention to detail

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with documentation tracking logs or dashboards
  • Exposure to risk management law or regulatory compliance
  • Enterprise risk management or operational resilience experience
  • Knowledge of governance policy and regulatory programs
  • Strong written communication skills

What Youll Earn:

This role offers a pay range of $27.85/hr.
