STUDENT GROUNDS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
(Position Description)
OBJECTIVE OF THE UNIVERSITY GROUNDS PROGRAM:
Provide a safe aesthetically pleasing and
well-maintained landscape on the UWSP campus.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Report directly to the Grounds Leads and Grounds Manager.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Grounds Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the care and maintenance of landscaping on
the UWSP campus. This includes all outside property of
the University.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Assist in Recycling Dept. as needed.
Prepare plant and maintain flowerbeds and planters.
Plant and prune trees and shrubs.
General maintenance including mowing grass weeding trimming pruning watering fertilizing etc.
Picking up litter and debris.
Implementation of new landscape designs.
Understand and promote the concept that the efforts of
individual crewmembers and the UWSP grounds maintenance program as a whole can have a positive impact on the University.
Help create and promote an awareness of and respect for the University landscape through positive personal interactions with residents students staff and faculty members and visitors.
Any other duties requested by the Grounds Leads.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a high degree of interest in the care and maintenance of landscape vegetation.
Professional initiative including a willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
Full time student status.
Good academic standing. Must have a cumulative GPA of
2.50 or higher.
Past experience preferred but not required.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Wages:
Base wage $11.50/hr. free on-campus housing if working at least 30 hours/week.
$12.25 w/out housing.
Probation: There is an 80 hour probation period associated with this position.
Available hours: Up to 25 hrs/wk during semesters.
Up to 40 hrs/wk during the summer.
