The Ford Global Core Exterior Lighting and ADAS Sensor Protection Supervisor role spans a variety of engineering fields including mechanical electrical software and optics. This role requires an engineering supervisor to lead and drive a cross functional team that includes lighting engineers systems engineers lighting suppliers studio purchasing manufacturing and quality functions. Our ideal candidate desires to build their career within exterior lighting. Responsibilities

In this position...

  • Supervise a talented team of Exterior Lighting and ADAS Sensor Protection Engineers to deliver the following global core activities:
    • Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) Core Documentation and Prevent Recurrence Actions (PRAs)
    • Design Rules Requirements and other standards/documentation
    • Commodity technology and sourcing strategies
    • Cost Models
    • Benchmarking
    • Pre-Program Start (PS) lead
    • High Impact Requirement (HIR) expertise and signoffs
    • Lighting technology evaluation and development
    • Lighting testing standards and development
    • ADAS sensor protection standards and technology development
    • CAD/CAE support
    • Headlamp aiming standards and process
    • IIHS and other vehicle level testing
    • EMC test plan approval
    • Electronics design and testing support
    • Global lighting team interface meetings and design reviews
    • Regulatory interpretation support

What youll do...

  • Manage Exterior Lighting and ADAS Sensor Protection Labs
  • Represent Ford at 3rd party industry organizations (DVN GTB SAE etc)
  • Communicate information to and from internal and external organizations
  • Lead cross-functional team meetings(suppliers designers engineers manufacturing STA etc.)
  • Travel as required (including international)


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering discipline (Electrical Mechanical Optical or other relevant discipline)
  • 5 years of lighting or ADAS sensor protection applications and/or other relative experience.
  • 5 years of body exterior applications and/or other relative experience.


Even better you may have...

  • Masters Degree or other Advanced Degree (Electrical Mechanical and/or Optical).
  • 10 years of lighting applications and/or other related experience.
  • Familiarity with Design For Six Sigma process.
  • Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Knowledge of plastic materials plastic injection molding optics basic electrical/electronic circuitry lamp manufacturing processes tooling fixture design and product validation.
  • Knowledge of global lighting regulations.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
