NASI is seeking a Working Lead Hands (Relief) to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.

For this role NASI offers a base rate of up to$41.61/houras well as room for growth!

Where Youll Be Working

  • Site: Syncrude-Aurora
  • Schedule: 6 x 6 (3 days/3 nights/6 off)- 12 hour shifts
  • Accommodations:Camp is not provided
  • Work Duration: 9 months may be extended
  • Tentative start date: March 18 2026
  • Transportation: Bussing provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shifts)
  • Overtime:is paid for hours worked over 12 hours per shift on statutory holidays or for work on a day off.

Please note that this is a CLAC position and candidates working under NASI will be under the collective agreement.

*NOTE: This role is for relief purposes and your main duties will be operating either a Haul Truck or Dozer. and will be paid that applicable rate. You will be paid lead hand rate when working in a lead hand capacity only.

Responsibilities

What Youll Be Doing

  • Operating heavy equipment in a mining environment (Haul Truck or Dozer).
  • Providing daily assignments to team members.
  • Overseeing efficient work of the team.
  • Ensure safety of all team members.
  • Ensure compliance to all company client and legislated safety policies operating standards and procedures.
  • Operate various pieces of equipment as required.
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment including PPE.
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements.
  • Complete equipment/ area walk-arounds safety checks and field level risk assessments and ensure all equipment is running properly.
  • Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately.
  • Report all incidents near misses or damage immediately.

Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

  • At lease one year experience operating various sizes and types of equipment (Haul Truck and Dozer).
  • At least one year experience leading operational teams in a construction or mining setting.
  • Must have oilsands specific experience.
  • Must have experience with loading/hauling/placing earthworks programs and construction projects.
  • A safety-first attitude.
  • Attentive and possess strong listening skills.
  • High school diploma GED and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • Must be proficient in English both verbal and written.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

If you are chosen to move forward in our hiring process for a site-based role you will be asked to provide the following:

  1. Have a valid Class 5 Drivers License and ability to provide a recent acceptable Drivers Abstract
  2. Valid CSO or BSO Certification (Energy Safety Canada)
  3. Silica Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  4. Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  5. OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  6. H2S Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  7. Field Ergonomics (Energy Safety Canada)
  8. Be subject to Random Testing at: Suncor Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  9. Undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing:
    • Breath Alcohol Test
    • Urine Drug Test

    Once onboarded the following processes will occur:

    1. Will receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testing
    2. An email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled out
    3. After all results and paperwork are received by NACG candidates will be contacted by Site Admin to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other site-specific details.

    Please note: The onboarding process can take anywhere from 3-8 business days.
