Duties and Responsibilities:

1. *Provides guidance to UH Cancer Center faculty and staff related to human subjects research compliance and protection.
2. *Participates in planning conduct and reporting of routine monitoring and audit activity for Cancer Center clinical research.
3. *Communicates with professionals of all levels at the UH Cancer Center UH departments hospitals and community members.
4. *Write and recommends procedures for standardized conduct of human subjects research.
5. *Participates in the development of UH Cancer Center HIPAA related monitoring and creation of internal policies and procedures.
6. *Provides compliance related training and education to UH Cancer Center Program faculty and staff in collaboration with the Compliance Director.
7. *Works closely with the Director Compliance to coordinate compliance activities set priorities and meet deadlines.
8. *Provides support to the compliance office including support involving committees and boards and completes special projects and assignments as needed.
9. *Identifies and assesses areas of research compliance risks.
10. *Facilitates corrective and preventative action plans.
11. *Creates and monitors reports.
12. Provides guidance and training to lower-level positions graduate and student assistants.
13. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Health Sciences Humanities or related field and three (3) year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for compliance research; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
2. Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of research compliance or human subjects research as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with the area of research compliance or human subjects research.
4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and be preparation of reports and other materials.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
8. If applicable for supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Masters Degree in health-related field.
2. Familiarity with human subjects research and applicable regulations.
3. Experience with data reporting and/or research.
