The Test Architect will define and drive the overall testing strategy across multiple data ingestion projects focused on migrating and synchronizing data from legacy systems into the ServiceNow CMDB.This role ensures a consistent scalable and efficient testing framework that guarantees data accuracy integrity and performance throughout the ingestion process. The Test Architect will provide strategic vision and frameworkfor testing across the program enabling Test Leads on individual projects to tailor their test plans to project-specific needs while maintaining overall cohesion. The Test Architect will ensure alignment with Architecture Review Board/XMO guidelines and leverage data-driven insights to improve quality and reduce defects. Additionally the Test Architect will identify opportunities to leverage ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) for effective automated testing and define KPIs to measure testing effectiveness and program success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Own Test Strategy:
- Define a high-level testing vision and frameworkthat applies across all data ingestion projects.
- Establish standards best practices and guidelines for testing data migration and integration.
- Enable Test Leads to adapt the framework for project-specific needs while maintaining program-wide consistency.
- Oversight & Support:
- Act as a mentor and advisor to Test Leads on individual projects.
- Ensure adherence to the overall test strategy and guidelines established by the Architecture Review Board and XMO team.
- Provide guidance on complex testing challenges and escalate risks when necessary.
- Data Accuracy & Validation:
- Design test approaches to validate data accuracy and completeness from source systems to ServiceNow CMDB.
- Implement automated and manual validation techniques for large-scale data sets.
- Performance Testing:
- Create performance testing plans to evaluate ingestion speed load capacity and scheduling efficiency.
- Recommend optimal ingestion schedules and batch sizes based on performance results.
- Defect Prevention & Reduction:
- Define strategies for identifying categorizing and reducing defects across projects.
- Use data-driven analysis to pinpoint root causes and recommend process improvements.
- ServiceNow ATF Integration:
- Assess ATF capabilities and identify areas where automated tests can be effectively implemented.
- Collaborate with ServiceNow developers to integrate ATF into the overall testing strategy.
- Governance Compliance:
- Ensure all development teams follow Data Ingestion Guidelines established by the Architecture Review Board and XMO team.
- Monitor compliance and provide feedback or corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Framework & Tooling:
- Select and implement appropriate testing tools for data validation and performance testing.
- Ensure frameworks support scalability and maintainability across multiple projects.
- Test Documentation Standardization:
- Establish the template for Test Plan Documentsto be used consistently across all projects.
- Define structure and content requirements for test plans including objectives scope approach and reporting.
- Traceability Strategy:
- Develop and implement a traceability approachlinking requirements user stories and test cases.
- Ensure traceability is maintained throughout the project lifecycle for compliance and audit readiness.
- Manual vs Automated Testing Strategy:
- Define the high-level strategy for determining when manual test cases are needed versus automated test cases.
- Ensure a balanced approach that optimizes efficiency coverage and risk mitigation across projects.
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Strategy:
- Define the high-level approach for UAT including scope roles responsibilities and success criteria.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure UAT aligns with requirements and project objectives.
- KPI Definition & Reporting:
- Define program-level KPIsto measure testing effectiveness defect reduction automation coverage and overall quality.
- Establish reporting mechanisms and dashboards to track progress against KPIs.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously refine testing strategies based on lessons learned and evolving project needs.
