About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking applications for Engineering Services Manager to join us in a permanent full-time role. Based at our Mater Townsville Pimlico campus this role is an opportunity to contribute to one of North Queenslands most trusted healthcare providers. Mater Townsville delivers a comprehensive range of acute and specialist services across our Pimlico and Hyde Park sites supporting the needs of the rapidly growing Townsville and North Queensland region.
Salary range: $62.68 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15900access to many staff benefits!
What youll be doing
Youll lead the delivery of safe efficient and high-quality engineering and maintenance services across Mater Townsvillesfacilities. As a technical and managerial leader youll drive performance safety and continuous improvement in support of Maters mission and operational this role you will:
- Manage engineering maintenance programs and oversee the operational budget across Mater Townsville
- Oversee site security the carpark and associated systems/processes.
- Provide technical and managerial leadership to a diverse maintenance team
- Ensure plant and equipment reliability through proactive preventive and predictive maintenance planning
- Establish and maintain maintenance programs that meet relevant standards and workplace health and safety requirements
- Oversee safety systems and compliance including permit-to-work and risk management processes
- Develop and implement improvement initiatives to enhance service efficiency and sustainability
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to align engineering operations with business objectives
- Lead coach and develop staff fostering a culture of accountability growth and excellence
- Contribute to strategic planning and resource optimisation to support Maters broader infrastructure goals
About you
Youre a skilled and proactive engineering leader with a strong technical background and a passion for continuous improvement. With extensive experience managing complex maintenance operations you bring both strategic insight and hands-on leadership to ensure safe efficient and high-performing engineering services. The ideal candidate will have:
- Relevant engineering or trade qualifications (Associate Diploma or Bachelors degree preferred)
- Extensive management experience (10 years) in multi-trade maintenance either insourced or outsourced
- Proven ability to lead technically diverse teams in complex maintenance environments
- Experience in managing contractors
- Experience in managing small to medium size projects
- Analytical and problem solving attributes as it relates to building infrastructure
- A strong focus on safety leadership compliance and continuous improvement
- Experience in healthcare or similar regulated industries desirable
