To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth this Summer were looking to add a Reliability & Failure Analysis Lab Support Intern located in our Milpitas CA site.
Reporting to the Technical Program Manager the Intern will support analytical characterization reliability evaluations and documentation activities within a multifunctional electronics laboratory environment. The role provides hands on exposure to advanced materials analysis instrumentation metrology tools and industry standard testing methodologies.
What a typical day looks like:
- Contribute to updates of FA and Reliability Lab capability matrices test method documentation and process flow definitions.
- Develop structured Excelbased metrology templates for crosssection dimensional analysis; implement statistical charting and train lab personnel in standardized measurement workflows.
- Support ISO/IEC 17025:2017 quality system activities including document control method validation updates and traceability record management.
- Assist in authoring and revising laboratory procedures equipment SOPs and calibration/maintenance logs.
- Train on and operate materials characterization equipment such as:
- Crosssectioning and metallographic preparation systems
- Dye & Pull / Dye & Pry systems for interconnect integrity evaluation
- C3 (Capacitance Contact Conductance) systems
- SEM/EDX for microstructural and elemental analysis
- Highresolution digital optical microscopy platforms
- Akrometrix tools for warpage and thermalmechanical characterization
- Execute materials characterization tasks failure analysis evaluations and reliability test support as assigned.
- Benchmark internal FA and reliability service costs including consumables labor and equipment utilization metrics.
- Participate in calibration preventive maintenance and equipment verification activities to ensure metrological accuracy and operational readiness.
Student qualities were seeking for this internship assignment:
- Currently enrolled Junior/Senior student pursuing BS degree in Materials Science Materials Engineering Mechanical Engineering or Engineering/Business Management
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on data handling and template creation in Excel.
- Effective technical communication skills for reporting documentation and crossfunctional interaction.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision in a laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated handson aptitude with tools fixtures and analytical equipment.
- Strong problemsolving skills attention to detail and ability to contextswitch across multiple technical tasks.
Internship Program Requirements:
- Available for an onsite fulltime (40 hours/week) internship for 1012 weeks during the summer term
- Must be enrolled in a 4year accredited university.
- Minimum GPA: 3.0.
