  • POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The Junior Kindergarten Paraeducator works under the direction of the classroom teacher with identified children as required by the program curriculum. They keep accurate records on activities with students as required by the program guidelines.

    Salary: HVPEA Contract

    Reports To: Principal

    Status: Title I funded position for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year only

    Hours:32.5 hrs/wk

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Good communication skills both oral and written.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with various staff members principals students teachers and office personnel.
    • Ability to work well under direction of program coordinator and classroom teacher.
    • Show evidence of initiative andenthusiasm.
    • Ability to keep accurate records on activities with students as required by program guidelines.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Complement supplement and reinforce students instruction under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher in both special education and regular education classrooms.

    • Understand the Junior Kindergarten program guidelines.
    • Work under the direction of the classroom teacher with identified children as required by the program curriculum.
    • Participate in regularly scheduled in-service sessions both at the local and county level.
    • Attend staff meetings when requested.
    • On an as needed basis paraeducator employees may be required to attend to a student whose needs include routine medical procedures or assistancewith regular hygiene.
    • Keep accurate records on activities with students as required by the program guidelines.
    • Perform any other duties as required by the program coordinator or classroom teacher.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or equivalent

    LANGUAGE MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS:Ability to speak and write to apply mathematical concepts to practical to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
