Description
Job Summary
A Light Duty Vehicle Service Technician is responsible for inspecting diagnosing repairing and maintaining light-duty vehicles such as passenger cars SUVs vans and light trucks. The technician ensures vehicles operate safely and efficiently by performing routine maintenance and resolving mechanical or electrical issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes tire rotations brake inspections and fluid checks.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Repair or replace faulty components including brakes suspension systems batteries belts hoses and filters.
- Conduct vehicle inspections to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Use computerized diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot vehicle systems.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs performed.
- Test drive vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
- Follow manufacturer specifications and company repair procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Communicate findings and repair recommendations to service advisors or customers.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
- Certification in automotive service technology (such as National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)) is an advantage.
- Experience working with light-duty vehicles and automotive systems.
- Knowledge of engine systems braking systems electrical systems and vehicle diagnostics.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid drivers license.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy vehicle parts and tools.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in workshop environments with noise grease and vehicle fumes.
Preferred Experience
- 13 years of experience in automotive repair or maintenance.
- Familiarity with multiple vehicle brands and diagnostic software.
