Job Description:
Our Client is seeking an IBMi Software Engineer to support proprietary financial applications including accounts payable/receivable general ledger and electronic matching systems. This role involves troubleshooting production issues developing new software modules across multiple projects and leading the design of select components.
Required Skills:
Must have strong experience with IBMi development with primary focus on RPG (aka RPG/400 RPGLE Free Form RPG) and Control Language (aka CL CLLE)
Familiarity with additional IBM i technologies such as ILE (Integrated Language Environment) DB2 SQL (aka DB2/400 SQL/400) DBU and SQLRPGLE is a strong plus.
SQL -Experience in writing optimized complex SQL statements in DB2
IBM I rational Implementer/MDCMS Analysis Advance Query Tool Jira Confluence.
Experience with Agile methodology and usage of Jira board with daily standups.
Understanding of Web Services/Restful API SOA XML/JSON.
A strong combination of program language experience and business requirement gathering.
Bonus Skills:
Java web technology experience supporting IBM i integration and modernization efforts.
Financial application experience.
Position Description:
This role supports legacy IBM i applications and requires the ability to understand and reverse engineer existing RPG and CL code based on business provided requirements.
Serve as the primary support lead for multiple mission critical applications owning day to day support and issue resolution.
Support the full application lifecycle (design development testing release and production support) in collaboration with senior engineers and technical leads.
Partner with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements define acceptance criteria and advise on technical feasibility and implementation approaches.
Design develop test maintain and troubleshoot application code and backend database schemas ensuring performance reliability and scalability.
Produce clean well-documented maintainable code that adheres to established standards including unit/UI testing and CI/CD practices.
Triage and analyze production issues coordinating with cross functional teams to drive root cause resolution.
Provide technical leadership through task assignment code review and mentorship of junior and offshore engineers and participate in new hire interviews.
Influence technology standards tools and design patterns as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
