Job Summary

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a motivated professional to join our Petroleum Oil and Lubricants (POL) Section as a POL this role you will support all activities related to the supply and handling of POL products including aircraft fuelling and defueling operations. Your responsibilities will include refuelling and defueling aircraft issuing gasoline for various vehicle types performing routine inspections and services and operating motor vehicles such as tank trucks and POL facility equipment. You will directly contribute to the E-3A Components mission accomplishment

The position requires some German proficiency to ensure compliance with Host Nation regulations and to facilitate regular communication with German vendors. You should have a strong awareness of health and safety standards and be able to perform your duties following well-defined procedures.

YOUR ROLE

In particular you will be responsible for:

  • Fuelling and de-fuelling a/c;

  • Issuing gasoline to operators of various type vehicles and motor driven support equipment;

  • Operating and monitoring the automated on base hydrant refuelling system in the Fuel Control Centre;

  • Performing inspections services scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fuel trucks and other POL mobile / support equipment;

  • Inspecting servicing and performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of all fixed POL infrastructure;

  • Performing safety checks maintenance and minor repair of POL equipment;

  • Maintaining POL related shelf-life data and marking POL products with appropriate labels;

  • Taking and dispatching samples under the POL quality control scheme;

  • Performing daily and monthly stocktaking duties;

  • Assisting/escorting contractor personnel;

  • Operating logistics related computer terminals;

  • Operating motor vehicles especially tank trucks as well as other POL installations and support equipment;

  • Performing dispatcher and general housekeeping duties including ground snow/ice removal.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Basic working knowledge of Petroleum Oil and Lubricants (POL) handling principles acquired through at least 2 years related current professional experience;

  • At least 1-year professional experience as tank truck driver or as operator/mechanic of a larger tank farm;

  • Secondary education and completed basic vocational training in a POL refining/handling related field or secondary education and basic training for specific task related skills with 1-year experience;

  • Driving license equivalent to European Class CE;

  • Valid license for transporting dangerous goods/cargo on the road;

  • Sufficient English proficiency;

  • Knowledge of the host nation language (German) is also required;

  • Knowledge of Standard Automatic Data Processing (ADP).

Desirable:

  • Previous NATO assignment;

  • Experience working in an international/military environment;

  • Experience as POL operations specialist at a military air base or a larger commercial airport

  • Completed appropriate advanced vocational training.

YOUR TEAM

The Logistics Support Squadron is responsible for establishing and implementing inventory management procedures and accounting controls for all E-3A peculiar/non-peculiar materiel assets assigned to the MOB and all FOBs/FOL as well as DOB/L. The Material Storage & Distribution Branch is responsible for proper receipt issue storage warehousing and materiel handling for all peculiar and non-peculiar items and equipment. The Petroleum Oil Lubricants (POL) Section supervises manages and supplies POL products to all on-base users and visiting customers. This includes ground and aircraft fuels general lubricants and specific aircraft POL products.

CONTRACT

Serving civilian members of NATO will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations. Newly recruited staff will be initially offered a definite duration contract of three years. Thereafter an indefinite duration contract might be offered.
