What you will do:
Develop and optimization the short-term trading strategies of Global Energy Management (GEM) in the Iberian and European markets where GEM is active. The team is responsible for (i) developing bidding strategies at different markets (DAM/IDM/XBID/IMB/AASS/Constraints) to maximize trading revenues (ii) performing analysis required internally or by other departments (e.g. Origination R&M Back Office) (iii) analyzing market regulations affecting short-term strategies and (iv) developing digitization and market tools to support Front Office Operations and reporting of market results (v) Necessary developments and simulations of the Business Plan / Budget.
- Development and optimization of market strategies for the assets in the Iberian and European countries
- Supervise spot electricity market.
- Development and expanding the implementation of optimization models and middle & short-term strategy decision for the trading of electricity in the countries with direct market participation (Markets: DAM IDM XBID IMB & AASS).
- Coordination with market operators for the models deployment and strategy decision.
- Follow-up market behavior drivers forecasts middle & short-term conditions and trends changes for proper bidding decisions
- Perform market analysis and ad-hoc studies for internal departments and other geographies:
- Analyze competitor behavior and key market variables.
- Elaboration of specific studies related with energy market operations activities (i.e energy storage market representation balancing cost estimation).
- Elaboration of market analysis required by other departments (e.g. Origination R&M Back Office RGA).
- Follow up the different countries regulations and analyze their impact on EDP market operations strategy.
- Elaboration of analysis required for the participation of assets in new markets (e.g. auxiliary services continuous market etc.) and regulatory changes.
- Elaboration of analysis required for the entrance in new geographies as a market agent.
- Development of Bidding tools and reporting to enable the tracking of EDP market performance and strategies:
- Supervise the performance of the market operations performed (e.g. monitoring reports weekly reports)
- Development of bidding tools to enable the operation on new markets (e.g. XBID bidding tools DAM consolidators etc.)
- Development of the Business Plan / Budget for assets managed by GEM scenario simulation and evolution and periodic reports.
- Supervise the deployment of IT solutions and the development of digitization for Short Term Optimization department.
- Automation of market activities processes and monitoring.
- Development of new energy market solutions.
- Models integration in the market operation app and datahub.
- Development of data pipelines and processes for the integration of new software (e.g. Azure DataHub GEMOS-ARRTS)
- Implementation of algorithmic solutions and development of models to support optimal decisions regarding bots operations (SmartPulse and similar) at any markets.

What are we looking for
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Statistics Applied Mathematics Engineering (Electrical Computer Industrial) Economics or Business with strong quantitative focus Data Science or Analytics or Data Engineering
- Up to 5 years of experience in Former experience in the power industry related electricity markets renewable regulation short-term markets data treatment and coding experience.
- Predictive modeling and machine learning (tree-based models Neural networks regression clustering)
- Statistical inference time series analysis
- Programming in Python R and SQL
- Data visualization tools (Power BI Tableau)
- Working language in English and Spanish written and oral English Spanish and desirable one additional European language.
