Job Summary

As our Paediatric High Dependency Practice Educator you will work closely with the Senior Nursing Team Ward Managers and Learning & Development colleagues to ensure our staff receive highquality handson clinical education. You will be visible on the shop floor actively supporting staff with realtime guidance structured onthejob teaching and skills development in the paediatric high dependency environment.

Your work will directly contribute to strengthening the capability of the team improving patient experience and supporting safe effective care delivery.

Were looking for someone who is:

A registered childrens nurse with significant experience in paediatric high dependency or acute paediatric care
Passionate about education mentoring and supporting others to grow
Approachable patient and confident working alongside staff in busy clinical environments
An excellent communicator who can inspire and motivate colleagues
Committed to maintaining high standards of care and promoting continuous improvement
Enthusiastic about developing safe skilled paediatric clinicians

A teaching/mentorship qualification and previous experience in an education or supervisory role are desirable but not essentialwe welcome applicants who bring passion and the right attitude and we will support your development.

Key Responsibilities

Provide bedside clinical teaching coaching and support to nurses working within the paediatric high dependency pathway
Facilitate the development of competence in managing acutely unwell children and those requiring enhanced monitoring
Support staff through formal and informal learning: simulations skills sessions competency signoff and reflective practice
Promote a positive learning culture that empowers staff and builds confidence
Assist with identifying learning needs and developing structured training plans
Ensure best practice guidelines and quality standards are embedded in daytoday clinical care
Contribute to service development and education initiatives that enhance safety and quality
Support new starters student nurses and internationally educated nurses as they transition into practice

Qualifications :

Essential

  • Current RNC registration with NMC and any other relevant post registration qualifications
  • Evidence of Level 6 Study
  • Substantial clinical experience in a paediatric high dependency setting 
  • Practice assessor and practice supervisor skills
  • Demonstrable competency in assessing planning delivering and evaluating care for children requiring high dependency support

Desirable

  • Level 7 (Masters level) study in education advanced practice leadership or paediatric specialty
  • Formal teaching qualification (e.g. PGCert in Education)
  • Experience delivering simulationbased training
  • Experience developing education packages or competency frameworks
  • Leadership or quality improvement training
