About the role

As a Lawyer at Essential Energy you will play a key role in delivering high-quality legal advice and managing legal matters that support the organisations strategic and operational objectives. You will provide timely commercially focused legal guidance across a range of areas ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and mitigating legal risks.

Working closely with the Head of Legal and Senior Lawyers you will assist in overseeing external legal services and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective legal processes and governance. Your expertise will help shape policies manage litigation risks deliver strategic projects and maintain strong relationships with both internal teams and external legal providers contributing to the organisations success and integrity.

This is a 12 month fixed term opportunity and can be based anywhere withinEssential Energys operational footprint.

About Your Skills

  • You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills enabling you to identify legal risks and deliver effective solutions.
  • You excel in written and verbal communication with the ability to influence and negotiate confidently.
  • You demonstrate exceptional stakeholder engagement skills fostering productive relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • You are adept at managing competing priorities and delivering outcomes within tight timeframes.
  • You are proficient in using legal research tools technology and business systems relevant to legal practice.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Law and a current practising certificate entitling you to practise as a solicitor in NSW.

Desired Experience

  • Experience working as a legal professional in a large corporate organisation.
  • Knowledge of laws relevant to the energy or utility sector.
  • Experience providing legal advice within a State-Owned Corporation environment.
  • Strong understanding of probity and its application in large organisations.
  • General commercial legal experience particularly in highly regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess the organisational impact of legal decisions.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
