Job Summary

Job Summary:

This position is for a CT Technician responsible for performing computed tomography procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. The role involves preparing patients administering contrast media evaluating images and ensuring proper equipment performance. The technician will work in both the ER scanner and the main department scanner and must be available for call duties.

Responsibilities:

- Receives relays and documents verbal written and electronic orders.
- Prepares patients for procedures and addresses their needs during procedures.
- Demonstrates understanding of human anatomy pathology physiology and medical terminology.
- Modifies care according to patients age condition and abilities.
- Follows protocols established by licensed practitioners and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety.
- Identifies prepares and administers medications including contrast media as prescribed.
- Performs venipuncture as prescribed.
- Evaluates images for quality and ensures proper recording of accurate patient identification and anatomical laterality.
- Ensures complete examinations are performed following protocol.
- Ensures timely review and transfer of images and pertinent clinical information to a licensed practitioner.
- Properly operates electronic medical record (EMR) radiology information system (RIS) and picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
- Applies principles of ALARA to minimize radiation exposure.
- Demonstrates current knowledge of federal and state radiation safety laws.
- Properly utilizes personnel monitoring devices.
- Administers medication with an infusion pump or power injector as prescribed.
- Maintains high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique.
- Ensures proper equipment performance and schedules maintenance for emergent needs.
- Assists licensed practitioners with interventional computed tomography procedures.
- Performs computed tomography procedures as prescribed.
- Performs aspirations and biopsies.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- Minimum 2 years of experience in Adult Acute Care Adult Outpatient and Emergency Department settings.
- Experience with Cervical Lumbar & Thoracic procedures.
- Experience with Abdomen w/o and/or with contrast Pelvis w/o and/or with contrast Chest w/o and/or with contrast Head & Neck w/o and/or with contrast.
- Knowledge of preparation and/or administration of contrast media.
- Skill in starting Peripheral IVs & Venipuncture.
- Experience with Brain perfusion CT arthrography & Myelography.
- ARRT (R) certification.
- BLS certification.
- ARRT Advanced Certification.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Pediatric Acute Care experience.
- Experience with Multiplanar reconstruction (MRP).
- Experience with Biopsies Colonography or virtual Colonography Drainage.
- Experience with Vascular CTAs.
- ACLS certification.
Special Considerations:

- Call is required 3 days every 4 weeks with a 30-minute response time.
- Floating between the ER scanner and the main department scanner is required.
- RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
Scheduling:
- 3x12s shifts.
- Saturday 14:00 - 02:00 Sunday 13:00 - 01:00 and Monday 11:00 - 23:00.
- No other shifts will be considered.
