Position Overview:
KODA Technologies is seeking an RF Antenna Test Equipment Engineer to support the Sustainable Lunar Development (SLD) program. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design layout and documentation of RF antenna test cards and associated test equipment for avionics systems integral to the SLD launch vehicle. This role requires hands-on expertise in card-level RF circuit layout test equipment design and the production of engineering drawings that meet aerospace manufacturing and test standards.
This position sits at the intersection of RF engineering and design requiring the ability to translate RF antenna specifications and system requirements into precise card-level layouts suitable for fabrication assembly and functional testing within a human spaceflight program environment.
What Youll Be Doing:
- Develop card-level layouts for RF antenna interface boards supporting SLD avionics test equipment including GPS telemetry and command/control RF systems
- Apply RF PCB design principles including controlled impedance routing ground plane management RF shielding and isolation to minimize signal interference
- Create and maintain detailed block diagrams illustrating signal flow from RF antenna inputs through test card interfaces to rack-level test equipment
- Coordinate with antenna subsystem engineers to ensure test card electrical interfaces properly characterize RF performance parameters (VSWR insertion loss return loss isolation)
- Support design reviews including PDR CDR and test readiness reviews for RF test equipment
- Produce wiring diagrams assembly drawings and harness drawings for RF test equipment in support of the SLD program
- Generate acceptance test plan documentation covering RF signal characterization voltage compliance testing and functional verification of antenna test cards
- Utilize Creo for mechanical assembly documentation
- Support procurement analysis for RF components connectors and PCB fabrication vendors; assess ITAR compliance cost and schedule risk
- Participate in weekly status reporting tracking progress on card layout deliverables against the baseline schedule
- Collaborate with Blue Origin engineers via AWS-based network infrastructure; maintain compliance with customer IT security requirements
What Required Skills Youll Bring:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering RF/Microwave Engineering or closely related discipline
- Masters degree preferred for senior-level placement
- Minimum 5 years of experience in RF/microwave circuit design or RF test equipment engineering within an aerospace defense or commercial space environment
- Demonstrated experience with card-level RF PCB layout including controlled impedance RF shielding and multi-layer stack-up design
- Experience producing engineering drawings (block diagrams wiring diagrams assembly drawings) for avionic or RF test equipment
- Familiarity with acceptance test plan development for RF and electrical systems
- Proficiency in RF PCB layout tools (Zuken CR-8000 Altium Designer Cadence Allegro or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of Creo Parametric for mechanical assembly documentation
- Experience with RF measurement equipment
- Familiarity with RF connector types
- Understanding of RF system parameters
- Working knowledge of drawing release and revision control
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass a background check
What Desired Skills Youll Bring:
- Experience specifically supporting launch vehicle or spacecraft avionics RF systems (GPS telemetry TT&C radar altimeter)
- Prior work on Blue Origin NASA human spaceflight or space launch programs
- Familiarity with applicable aerospace standards
- Experience with environmental test qualification processes (thermal cycling random vibration shock per MIL-STD-810 or equivalent)
