ELA Interventionist
Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools (GCCS) serves more than 1600 students from PreK12 and is a free open-enrollment public charter school system located in Kansas City Missouri. Over 97% of our students identify as Latinx and many are bilingual or English learners. Our network includes Guadalupe Centers Elementary School Guadalupe Centers Middle School and Guadalupe Centers High School.
GCCS grew out of Guadalupe Centers educational programs part of the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the United States since 1919. Summary
The ELA Interventionist provides supplemental research-based literacy instruction and support to students who demonstrate deficiencies in reading and/or writing. The Interventionist supports students in developing foundational reading skills reading fluency vocabulary comprehension and written expression to ensure progress toward Missouri Learning Standards and grade-level proficiency.
This position supports the districts assessment system school improvement plan and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

Building Principal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Responsibilities
Provide direct research-based literacy intervention to individual students and small groups in alignment with Missouri Learning Standards.
Implement structured literacy practices and evidence-based instructional strategies.
Deliver intervention services consistent with district curriculum MTSS framework and building-level plans.
Monitor student progress using formative and summative assessment tools and adjust instruction accordingly.
Data & Compliance
Analyze screening diagnostic and progress-monitoring data to identify student needs.
Assist in placement of students into appropriate literacy interventions in collaboration with the building team.
Maintain accurate timely documentation of student progress in accordance with district procedures and DESE requirements.
Participate in data meetings and contribute to school improvement efforts.
Collaboration
Collaborate with classroom teachers to:
Identify literacy needs
Establish measurable student learning goals
Align intervention instruction with core classroom instruction
Support teachers in interpreting literacy data and implementing best practices.
Communicate effectively with staff and families regarding student progress as appropriate.
Professional Responsibilities
Attend required professional development and maintain certification requirements.
Adhere to all district policies board regulations and Missouri school law.
Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA and district policy.
Perform other duties related to literacy intervention as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Required Education and Certification
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
Valid Missouri teaching certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
Missouri Special Reading Teacher Certification (K12) or other DESE-approved certification appropriate for reading intervention services.
Meets all certification and background clearance requirements as required by DESE and Missouri law (including FBI and state criminal background check pursuant to RSMo 168.133).
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Reading Literacy Curriculum & Instruction or related field.
Training and/or experience in MTSS Response to Intervention (RTI) and structured literacy practices.
Experience in data analysis and progress monitoring systems.
Experience working in an urban school setting.
Bilingual skills (English required; Spanish preferred).
Note: The federal Highly Qualified Teacher designation is no longer required under ESSA; however all certification requirements under Missouri DESE must be met.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing walking and instructing students.
Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
Ability to access all areas of the school facility.
Ability to supervise and engage students in instructional settings.
