ROLEOVERVIEWANDPURPOSE

The role of Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) is to deliver planned and reactive maintenance within a busy retail environment ensuring safereliableand compliant operation of all electrical infrastructure and associated building services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Electrically biased tradesperson working on-site as part of the Maintenance Team.

Maintenance & Operations

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Electrical fault-finding diagnostics repairs testing and minor installation works on:
  • Lighting systems & controls
  • Power distribution (LV systems)
  • Emergency lighting
  • Motors drives and control panels
  • Circuit protection equipment
  • Small power systems
  • Perform statutory compliance duties including:
  • Emergency light testing
  • RCD testing
  • Distribution board inspections
  • Portable appliance testing (ifrequired)
  • Support mechanical and fabric taskswherecompetentassistingthe wider maintenance team.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Complete all PPM and reactive tasks accurately within the CMMS system.
  • Ensure adherence to ABM client and statutory Health & Safety proceduresat all times including safe isolation (LOTO).
  • Maintainaccuraterecords for all electrical works inspections and compliance activities.

Operational Support

  • Respond promptly to breakdowns defects and operational issues across the site.
  • Attend site emergencies andparticipatein out-of-hours callouts whenrequired.
  • Work safely in plant rooms risers confined spaces and at height (with correct PPE and training).
  • Maintain all company tools equipment and PPE in safe working condition.

General

  • Provide excellent customer service within a live retail environment.
  • Support the LDO contract with a flexible and positive approach.
  • Carry out any reasonableadditionalduties requested by management including supporting resilience or security needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 City & Guilds 2330/2365 or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent electrical training.
  • Demonstrable experience in commercial electrical building services.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability on electrical systems.
  • Awareness of basic mechanical systems (HVAC pumps motors etc.).
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Competent in safe electrical isolation procedures.
  • Strong communicationskills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing operational requirements.

DESIRABLE

  • Test & Inspection qualification (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent).
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Working knowledge of HVAC plant controls.
  • PASMA / IPAF/ IOSHcertification.
  • Experience working within retail leisure or large commercial environments.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office and CMMS software.
