Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position.

The Analyst Supply & Trading supports Capital Powers trading desk by providing market analysis risk assessment and insights for North American power and gas markets. This role ensures accurate forecasting compliance and execution strategies to optimize portfolio performance and profitability.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Analyze U.S. and Canadian power and gas markets including fundamentals congestion and basis trends.

  • Develop and maintain pricing models for physical and financial products.

  • Support trading strategies with quantitative analysis and scenario modelling.

  • Manage large datasets and perform advanced analytics.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior stakeholders on market outlook and portfolio performance.

  • Collaborate with traders and originators to identify opportunities and optimize positions.

  • Track exposure and report P&L to management.

  • Help ensure adherence to Capital Powers risk policies and regulatory requirements.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelors degree in a highly quantitative or analytical field (e.g. finance STEM or similar).

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • 2 years of experience in energy trading analytics or power/gas markets.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel SQL Python preferred).

  • Experience with ETRM systems and ISO scheduling platforms.

  • Knowledge of renewable integration and congestion management strategies.

  • Experience with industry-specific modelling tools.

  • Proficiency with cloud-based tools such as data bricks and snowflake.

Working Conditions:

  • In-office position with limited travel required

  • Location: Calgary
