The Opportunity:
As the Program Specialist for the School of Hospitality Business Management (SHBM) your primary responsibility is to ensure the SHBM operates smoothly by assisting the Director Industry Relations Manager and Administrative Manager to further the goals of the department by discussing and implementing goals overseeing the basic functions of the main office including but not limited to; greeting those who visit or call the SHBM Pullman department as well as keeping the faculty and graduate students in the department informed about current events meetings and upcoming deadlines.
You will also assist the department director with verifying course scheduling and enrollment for the Pullman campus; as well as assisting with tracking industry experience hours for students within our major and minor and sending out weekly updated emails to all SHBM students.
Additionally you will manage student engagement SHBM Ambassadors board of advisors minor event planning and on/off campus recruitment.

This is a full (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3752 to $5011 Range 42 Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree OR equivalent education/experience.
Demonstrated skills in organization and attention to detail.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in using computer software such as Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws rules policies and procedures.
Ability and willingness to occasionally travel work weekends and work after regular business hours.
Must have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Administrative experience with Washington State University or similar higher education environment.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced quickly changing and high stress environment.
Experience coordinating career fairs workshops or employer engagement events.
Strong networking skills and ability to build relationships with employers alumni and community organizations.
Experience working with diverse populations including students alumni and professionals at various stages of their careers.
Work experiences that demonstrate strong public speaking skills and the development and delivery of engaging and informative presentations.
Work experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and work in a collaborative team environment.
Experience with entry-level advising and Hospitality employment industry standards.
