About the Opportunity
Select Medical is seeking a Procedure/Operative Note Specialist who is responsible for the daily review of procedure logs and procedure edit reports for the purposes of identifying and following up on missing procedure/operative notes which directly impacts reimbursement while contributing to the completion of medical record documentation. The Procedure/Operative Note Specialist coordinates manages and communicates the status of procedure/operative notes with frequent interaction and updates to local hospital leadership and coding staff including up-to-date report generation.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Reviews the hospital procedure log and procedure edit report daily to identify procedures performed at the hospital and matches against medical record documentation to support the procedure.
- Identifies when documentation is missing and promptly follows up to obtain documentation through various means such as Care Everywhere direct practitioner/office contact local hospital staff and the performing hospital electronic medical record.
- In instances where there are obstacles in obtaining documentation promptly initiates OP report escalation process. Immediately reports variation to the manager.
- Upon receipt of procedure/operative notes promptly scans note into the medical record for coding staff to complete the coding function of the procedure.
- Meets established key performance indicators turnaround times and productivity standards.
- Coordinates the timely charge review and date changes with the hospitals Material Manager.
- Generates and prepares the OP Report Tracker to ensure the status of all notes is up to date at all times.
- Communicates effectively and promptly with leadership including hospital and coding leadership.
- Other duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma
- Two (2) years of experience in a Health Information department within a healthcare facility
- Strong organizational skills attention to detail and ability to prioritize
- Demonstrated problemsolving skills urgency and respect for confidentiality
- Experience with Epic or other EMRs and database systems
- Ability to communicate professionally with hospital staff clinicians and external partners
- Customerservice mindset with a collaborative approach
- Ability to adapt to changing workload and workflow demands
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree in Health Information Technology or related healthcare field
- RHIT or RHIA certification
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and Joint Commission standards
