JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager Operational Alignment & Compliance Safety & Design is responsible for overseeing development and sustainment of UDX OAC programs including developing documenting verifying and harmonizing various UDX safety and facility design requirements between all destinations and experiences globally. The position manages and drives consistency between UDX destinations including between UDX OAC Legal Operations Technical Services Engineering & Safety EHS and various Universal Creative Core and Project teams. The Senior Manager is a UDX-level approver of attraction ridership requirements while ensuring compliance and conformance with internal standards and external laws and regulations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- UDX Design Standards Program Development:
- Drives the collaborative review process of the UDX Design Standards transformation initiative partnering with the Initiative Owner (IO)(Director OAC) and various partners to ensure active participation and consensus.
- Manages the long-term set up of the collaborative review and approval process while ensuring equitable and representative participation of all destinations and subject-matter-experts.
- Represents the current Owner/Operators Project Requirements (OPR) in the initiative ensuring appropriate representation of the 2026 OPR in the initiative effort.
- Partners with applicable OAC Team Members to set up long-term sustainment of UDX standard system management.
- Proves input and standards interpretation to ensure compliance and conformance across the UDX standard in development existing UDX standards and external laws and regulations.
- Partners with the IO and various OAC TMs Parks Technology UDXAI and other teams in development of User Interface change management process and variance approval process.
- Project and UDX Standards Harmonization:
- Oversees distribution interpretation and implementation of the OPR for UDX projects while ensure compliance with OAC permissions management practices vendor access translation process training and system troubleshooting as needed.
- Provides operational input and standards interpretation for all UDX existing and future destinations to ensure design and build meets ASTM OSHA ADA and Universal standards.
- Reviews facility design construction drawings vendor manuals and operational materials (and associated revisions) providing feedback for required revisions and approvals.
- Attraction Ride Requirements:
- Ensures conformance of the Attraction Ride Requirement Media Consistency Global Policy by UDX project teams to ensure global alignment of ride requirement media (signage GSA spiel video QR etc.) for all destinations and experiences worldwide.
- Serves as a final approver of attraction safety media on behalf of UDX OAC ensuring inclusion and approvals from partner teams (Legal Engineering & Safety Marketing etc.) as required.
- Participates in review of attraction Operations & Maintenance Manuals during the attraction development process working with the manufacturer as needed to ensure compliance with AHJ conformance with UDX standards alignment with UDX operational requirements and meeting the intended ridership audience as defined at the start of the project.
- Projects and Team Collaboration:
- Drives goals and priorities of the UDX OAC department to finalization.
- Directly manages the Safety & Design section of the OAC team. Supports the Standards & Procedures and Safety & Design teams when applicable. Provides leadership support and feedback to the OAC team as applicable.
- Participating in the creation and execution of department TSAT initiatives.
- Learn and have a working knowledge of other OAC systems and programs to ensure department support and collaboration.
- Leads and/or assists with other UDX OAC projects as assigned.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Technical school is preferred; Associate degree (AA) is preferred any technical design or architectural field AND/OR technical writing.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of theme park technical and/or operations experience required including 3 years technical writing or standards management experience.
- 3 years supervisory experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Theme Park development experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Significant technical writing and editorial ability particularly as it relates to the themed entertainment industry
- Proficient in all components that are required to institute document sharing internal linking of subsections and computation components
- Project management skills to coordinate competing priorities and deadlines into timely and effective results.
- Familiarity with theme park functions and operations.
- Proficiency or familiarity with suite of Microsoft Office products including Word Excel SharePoint and Power Automate.
- Proficiency or familiarity with suite of Adobe Creative Cloud products (Acrobat DC InDesign Photoshop etc.)
- Should have familiarity with reading/interpreting architectural drawings and diagrams.
- Should have a working knowledge of technical terms as they relate to facility maintenance activities some architectural and engineering activities general design activities and certain theme park design and operations activities.
- Ability to lead with tact and diplomacy in achieving consensus decisions between UDX divisions and departments globally on facility design or other projects.
- Ability to influence outcomes in an expeditious manner.
