As a Prime Government Contractor for a major government organization in Washington DC we are currently searching for a talented Network Engineer with Secret Clearance to work in Washington D.C
The Network Analyst is responsible for the design implementation operation security and sustainment of enterprise network infrastructure supporting mission-critical government systems. This role ensures secure high-availability connectivity across LAN WAN data center cloud and hybrid environments while maintaining compliance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) NIST 800-53 controls and agency-specific cybersecurity policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Design & Architecture
- Design and implement enterprise LAN/WAN solutions.
- Develop network diagrams (logical/physical) and configuration documentation.
- Engineer high-availability solutions (HSRP/VRRP failover load balancing).
- Support network modernization initiatives (SDN automation Zero Trust).
2. Infrastructure Operations & Maintenance
- Configure and manage routers switches and firewalls.
- Perform firmware upgrades patching and lifecycle refresh planning.
- Monitor performance using enterprise tools (SolarWinds Splunk NetFlow).
- Troubleshoot Layer 17 issues using packet capture and traffic analysis tools.
- Support 24x7 operations and incident response.
3. Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain network security controls aligned with:
- DoD RMF
- NIST SP 800-53
- STIG hardening requirements
- Configure ACLs VLAN segmentation VPN tunnels IPSec and TLS.
- Support firewall rule reviews and change control board (CCB) processes.
- Participate in vulnerability scanning remediation (ACAS/Nessus).
- Contribute to Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation packages.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain network topology diagrams and IP addressing schemas.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide performance metrics for contract reporting.
- Support audits and inspections.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of enterprise network engineering experience.
- Experience with Cisco routers/switches (C8200 C9300 C9500 series preferred).
- Strong understanding of:
- TCP/IP
- BGP OSPF EIGRP
- VLANs NAT DHCP DNS
- IPSec SSL VPN
- Experience with firewall technologies (Cisco FMC ASA ISE or equivalent).
- Experience supporting secure government environments.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security CE or equivalent).
- CCNA Certification
- Active Secret clearance
