What Youll Be Doing

Capital Markets at CIBC provides integrated services and products for investors as well as corporate and institutional clients around the world. Our Capital Markets business is recognized as an industry leader specializing in investment banking advisory corporate lending and research. The Payments division in Capital Markets includes Alternate Solutions Group and Global Transaction Banking these business lines are focused on helping our clients achieve their ambitions.

As an Associate you will support the Capital Markets Business Management team with a focus on supporting our Alternate Solutions Group within Payments. You will act as an liaison between the business and key stakeholders and infrastructure partners on governance and controls matters. Youll also assist with business regulatory and compliance initiatives as needed.

How Youll Succeed

  • Risk and Governance Coordination Support the completion of Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRA) for new initiatives coordinate investigations and reporting on regulatory and operational incidents and support Business Continuity Planning milestones.

  • Audit and Regulatory Support Coordinate responses to auditor and regulator requests and assist with CIBC governance functions such as user system access shared folders contract reviews records management and oversight of business-managed technology.

  • Operational Efficiency Work with Finance to support expense management and review and perform physical and logical security checks.

  • Policy and Process Enhancement Assist with updates to business policies and procedures identify and implement process enhancements to improve operational efficiency and support regulatory and compliance requirements.

  • Project and Initiative Support Support the business with project implementation including the development of new policies and procedures preparation of presentation materials and tracking and reporting on strategic initiatives.

  • Stakeholder Engagement Represent the business on project working groups and stakeholder meetings and build strong relationships with partners across the organization including Technology Risk Management Compliance Audit and Finance.

Who You Are

  • You have a strong educational foundation. You hold an undergraduate degree in business or an equivalent field. A CPA/CFA designation is considered an asset.

  • You understand Capital Markets. You have experience or a strong understanding of financial services including business lines products and services and are familiar with the operational regulatory and reputation risks in this space.

  • You have compliance and governance experience. Experience in compliance operational risk controls and governance functions is an asset.

  • Youre tech savvy. You are comfortable with business tools such as Excel Word PowerPoint SharePoint and PowerBI.

  • Youre a collaborative team player. You know that teamwork leads to better outcomes and youre skilled at building consensus across multiple partners through strong communication skills.

  • Youre results-driven and organized. Youre motivated by achieving goals can manage multiple priorities and deliver results within tight deadlines.
