The Springer Nature Opening Doors internship Editorial Internship with the Nature Careers and Supplements team is a paid opportunity in London UK for students and recent graduates to gain experience in research education and science news publishing in our journals booksor magazines.
Many perspectives and lived experiences remain underrepresented in the publishing industry. This underrepresentation has historically affected a wide range of groups including Black people Indigenous people and people of colour firstgeneration university students people from socioeconomically disadvantagedbackgrounds LGBTQ communities people from underrepresented social castes religious minorities and people with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions.
We are looking for talented candidates from all backgrounds with excellent skills in a range of fields and we are committed to creating an inclusive internship with a cohort that reflects a broad range of voices and experiences.
The successful applicant will spend five months within Nature Careers and Supplements team part of the Impact Solutions division of Springer Nature. If selected for this internship you will be working with editors across the team and gain experience using the broad range of skills required to publish journalistic content in Naturein print and online. You will write a variety of articles for our audience of working scientists and build up a portfolio of published work which could include news features profiles data analyses and podcasts. You will also have the opportunity to pitch stories to editors plan special collections of articles and contribute to the art and design of both.

Natures core audience is working research scientists in academia and industry and those whose professional lives revolve around science including funders and policymakers. Our readers are all over the world and at all career stages from lab leaders to students.
About you:
You should have (or be studying for) a degree in a STEM subject or in journalism.
You will have strong and demonstrable interest in both science and communication.
You will have the desire and ability to improve the diversity of Natures coverage.
You will have an interest in data journalism and multimedia as an asset.
Available to start in early June 2026 for an internship of up to five months
You will have excellent written and verbal English skills
