Job Summary

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Summer Intern will be part of the APPA Student Internship Program that provides opportunities for students to engage in meaningful learning experiences including lunch and learn sessions APPA involvement field experiences in Facilities operations career prep sessions and social activities.

This position assists Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) personnel with carrying out duties associated with hazardous waste management research and lab safety fire/life safety occupational safety and health and environmental management. Performs other duties and functions for EHS as assigned.

Pay Rate

$15.00/hour

Required Qualifications

-Current student in an undergraduate program with an emphasis in Environmental Health and Sustainability or Occupational Safety and Health.

-Able to work during regular business hours Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.

-Able to work 28 hours per work.

-Must have valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

-Strong interpersonal and communications skills both oral and written including the ability to communicate with individuals from various technical and educational backgrounds.

-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

-Ability to work independently prioritize workload and take initiative on projects as needed.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel and PowerPoint.

Work Hours

This is a summer internship to be completed between May 2026 - August 2026. Standard office hours are 8:00 am-4:30 pm M-F. Specific hours to be determined upon hire.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
-Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
-Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
-Effectively communicate on a daily basis.

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and if applicable an employment history review based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation and/or an employment history review.
