Job Summary

Job Description:

  • Provides assessments and implements appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Monitors patients progress as appropriate and evaluates outcomes.
  • Performs standard nursing procedures appropriate to patient needs.
  • Completes and processes all required documentation including plans and discharge planning in a comprehensive objective and legible manner.
  • Provides health-related education to patients as appropriate to patient needs.
  • Administers medication and addresses other pharmacological needs as protocol dictates and performs basic intravenous and phlebotomy skills as required.
  • Participates in orientation and training of new employees contract staff students and others needed.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current valid unrestricted license as a RN issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or issued by a participating Compact State.
  • Current completed PSV from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
  • Current completed fit testing for N95 particulate respirators.
  • Minimum one year of past work experience in this position.



Required Skills:

Conduct patient evaluations histories and physical exams for new and follow-up cardiology patients Manage and monitor patients with cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension coronary artery disease atrial fibrillation heart failure and hyperlipidemia Order and interpret diagnostic tests including EKGs Holter monitors echocardiograms and stress tests Assist in care coordination for procedures or specialty referrals Provide inpatient cardiology consults and follow-ups (if applicable) Participate in hospital rounds discharge planning and transitions of care Educate patients and families on lifestyle changes medications and disease management Collaborate closely with supervising cardiologists primary care providers and support staff


Required Education:

Current and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Hawaii or eligibility to obtain one National certification (AANP ANCC or NCCPA) BLS and ACLS certification required 12 years cardiology or internal medicine experience preferred; strong new graduates with relevant rotations or RN cardiology background considered Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Comfortable working independently with physician support EMR experience
