In this position...

The Area Manager supports a team of Team Managers by leading and developing a well structured team based upon SQDCPME targets (safety quality delivery cost people morale environment). This handson role enforces Manufacturing Operating System standards drives daily shopfloor performance coordinates with Quality and Maintenance and coaches Process Coaches and operators to resolve abnormalities and sustain improvements.

The Area Manager ensures safe wall to wall efficient production while fostering a culture of accountability teamwork and continuous improvement through the Ford Production System validate facility staffing plan and budget are sufficient to deliver a successful product



Responsibilities

What youll do...


The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Engage regularly with employees in the production environment to listen and drive structured problem solving.
  • Leverage performance data with discipline. Develop strategic insights to predict early warning indicators identify opportunities make decisions and deliver solutions.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and processes to global manufacturing standards.
  • Achieving Business results by Leading the team to development and deliver improvement to of KPIs and ensuring linkage from strategy to actions in BCC PCC DCC and ZCCs.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement by eliminating internal roadblocks and providing the necessary resources to their teams to support problem resolution resulting in cost/quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across functions/departments to drive innovation and deliver timely solutions and innovation.
  • Lead transformation and change management efforts.
  • Develop organizational capability through coaching and development of Leaders as Teachers at all levels of the organization.


Qualifications

Youll have..

Education: Bachelors degree in engineering. (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of extensive experience in high volume manufacturing environment.

  • At least 4 years of progressive responsibilities and experience in operations leadership.

  • Experience in successfully leading a manufacturing function and directly overseeing 50 hourly/Salary employees.

  • Working experience in a unionized environment.



Even better you may have...

Education: Masters degree in engineering.

Experience:

  • Lean / Six Sigma certification or demonstrated equivalent experience applying lean manufacturing principles and standardized work.

  • Adept track record of building trust and rapport with employees and stakeholders and creating positive and healthy cultures.

  • Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to resolve diverse problems.

  • Proficient problem solving skills and the ability to lead effectively under pressure.

  • Demonstrated experience in one of the following areas:Assembly or Machining.
