ResponsibilitiesThe 1st Grade Teacher will:Instruction- Plan and deliver rigorous standards-aligned instruction in literacy and math
- Design lessons that center student thinking discussion and problem-solving
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and adjust instruction
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners including multilingual learners and students with disabilities
- Foster strong foundational literacy and numeracy development in early elementary grades
Classroom Culture- Establish a joyful structured classroom environment grounded in Responsive Classroom practices
- Teach and reinforce clear routines that support student independence and responsibility
- Cultivate a classroom community where all students feel known valued and capable
- Collaboration and Professional Learning
- Collaborate regularly with grade-level teams and specialists to plan instruction and analyze student work
- Engage actively in coaching observation and feedback cycles
- Contribute to a culture of continuous adult learning and reflection
- Mentor and support Boston Teacher Residency residents as part of the schools Teaching Academy model
Family and Community Partnership- Build authentic respectful relationships with families
- Communicate regularly with caregivers about student learning and progress
- Partner with families to support students academic and social-emotional development
Qualifications- Deep belief in the Dudley Street mission and commitment to educational equity
- Massachusetts teaching license in Elementary Education and SEI endorsement (required)
- Additional licensure in ESL and/or Special Education strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to support the learning of diverse student populations
- Strong instructional planning and classroom management skills
- Commitment to collaboration and professional growth
