Job Description
The Defensive Line Coach is responsible for coaching mentoring and developing student-athletes in the defensive line position group while supporting the overall mission of the football program athletic department and university. This position contributes to competitive success student-athlete development recruitment and compliance with NCAA Division II conference and institutional regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coach and develop defensive line student-athletes in technique fundamentals and position-specific skills
- Assist with practice planning drills and game preparation
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback
- Promote academic success personal growth and accountability among student-athletes
- Support strength conditioning and injury prevention programs in coordination with athletic performance staff
Recruiting
- Identify evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA Division II rules
- Maintain recruiting databases and communication logs
- Assist with on-campus visits official/unofficial visits and recruiting events
- Collaborate with the coaching staff to meet roster and positional needs
Game Day & Program Support
- Assist with game planning opponent breakdowns and film analysis
- Participate in game-day coaching and administrative responsibilities
- Support scouting reports and analytics relevant to defensive line play
Administration & Compliance
- Comply with all NCAA Division II conference and institutional policies
- Assist with monitoring academic progress eligibility and conduct of student-athletes
- Complete required documentation reports and administrative tasks
- Representing the football program and university in a positive and professional manner
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with summer camps clinics fundraising and community engagement activities
- Assist in transportation of athletes to/from athletic events which may include driving a full-size passenger van or other large capacity vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
- Playing and/or coaching experience with defensive line position
- Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations
- Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work nights weekends holidays and travel as required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.
- State of Texas or Arkansas class C vehicle operators license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment including an acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course as required.
- Physical Requirements
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Working in all weather conditions exposure to high noise levels standing throughout the day the ability to use a loud voice at practices and events and physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.

Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree from an accredited institution
- Recruiting experience at the collegiate level in Lone Star Conference footprint
- Experience with video analysis software (e.g. Hudl XOS)
- Successful experience and a Collegiate Defensive Line Coach
