Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Licensing Officer - Licensed Practical Nurse to join the team in Vancouver BC and supporting Richmond and North Shore. Apply today to join our team!

As a Licensing Officer - Licensed Practical Nurse with VCH you will:

  • Practice collaboratively as a member of an interprofessional team within Scope of Practice and Professional/Practice Standards of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses and within VCH policies guidelines.

  • Monitor and investigate residential care facilities to ensure continuing compliance with the provincial Community Care and Assisted Living Act and Residential Care Regulation.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members physicians educational resources and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in residential care facilities and provides regional support to Licensing Officers on technical issues.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Two (2) years recent related clinical experience in the field of adult and/or adolescent residential-based programs including recent experience in quality assurance accreditation review or licensing or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • Valid BC. Drivers license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the provincial statutes related to Community Care Facilities Licensing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the provision of quality care within licensed residential care facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in the inspection and assessment of community care facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate complaints and reportable incidents identify infractions and violations make corrective action and issue orders as they relate to provincial statutes.
  • Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of quality assurance/quality improvement.
  • Working knowledge of crisis intervention and community resources.
    Ability to exercise tact and good judgment.
  • Ability to set objectives plan and implement and evaluate projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload work independently and use a cooperative approach to program delivery.
  • Ability to work effectively respectfully and with tact with a culturally diverse population.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Ability to manage a variety of situations and responsibilities requiring initiative creativity and professional judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per Ministry of Health policy all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
