Job Summary
Intermediate Mechanical Engineer (Production Irradiator)
Ottawa Ontario Canada Full-Time Permanent
Salary Range: $100000 $120000 per annum
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Production Irradiator Engineering you will be responsible for the design testing and ongoing technical and manufacturing support of production irradiator components. You will work closely with the Project Management office and the Production Irradiator Controls team to deliver projects on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
Lead or participate in all aspects of the design and manufacture of irradiator components and assemblies
Lead the design process and coordinate prototype manufacture
Perform safety analyses including engineering calculations
Create test specifications coordinate and execute testing
Compile results and generate reports
Provide input to improve engineering processes
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical)
Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in mechanical engineering
Professional Engineer designation or eligibility for accreditation as a Professional Engineer
Competency in finite element analysis using SolidWorks or other software tools
Skills & Competencies
Design and engineering analysis of mechanical systems and components
Basic mechanical stress/strength calculations
Design prototyping testing and troubleshooting of mechanical or electromechanical equipment used for manufacturing processes
Simple thermal analysis and calculations
Considered an Asset
Prior experience in the nuclear industry
Prior experience in the design analysis and manufacture of conveyor systems
Familiarity with welding and more specifically weld design specification and qualification
Some exposure to radiation shielding design and analysis
Additional Requirements
Occasional overtime to meet project requirements
Travel requirements (6090 days international travel requiring a valid Canadian passport)
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $100000 to $120000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience qualifications and other relevant factors.
