This position reports to:

Production Engineering Manager

The work model for the role is: Onsite Richmond VA

Your role and responsibilities

In this role you will have the opportunity to optimize the Production organizations assembly methods processes and equipment to minimize labor hours in accordance with business strategies related to quality efficiency costs and safety. Each day you will ensure appropriate production methods cycle time equipment performance and materials/components in support of production targets. You will also showcase your expertise by defining the working phase sequence of a new production process to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Identifying and recommending improvement opportunities and implements Automation projects ensuring adherence to timeframe quality and cost requirements plant wide; Propose Implement and manage Automation architecture for various projects

  • Aware of communications protocols PLC programming knowledge SCADA lab view C# ; Knowledge and hands on experience of communication with production tools like printer automatic torque tools Robots AMR Vertical carousel scanner badge readers measurement devices etc.

  • Approving the design for processes developed internally or externally and performing final tests with respect to the automation project; Knowledge of Robot programming and end effector

  • Providing support to Production during the internal/external process/equipment start-up defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resources.

  • Evaluating new process automation technologies to improve productivity quality and cost reduction defining and leading testing activities approval criteria and external provider choices.


Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor degree in electronics & communications electrical or mechatronics engineering preferred

  • Minimum 3 years experience in automation of manufacturing line & Warehousing

  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office SQL PLC SCADA C# and communication protocols

  • Knowledge of Robot programming (ABB Fanuc Kuka) and

    Vision system (SICK COGNEX Keyence) experience preferred

  • Knowledge of AMR Fleet management Fleet path design preferred

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma Lean and 5S preferred

  • Experience with project management and proven history of driving and sustaining change

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
