The Department of Neurosurgery at Carilion Clinic
The Department of Neurosurgery at Carilion Clinic is a regional center of excellence providing advanced surgical care for complex brain spine and cerebrovascular conditions. Its fellowshiptrained neurosurgeons deliver highacuity treatment supported by modern technologies such as robotic surgical systems and imageguided platforms. The department operates within a multidisciplinary ecosystem that integrates neurology oncology orthopaedics and rehabilitation to ensure comprehensive patient care.
As part of an academic health system the department maintains a strong partnership with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine supporting active clinical research innovation initiatives and a robust neurosurgery residency program. With services anchored at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and supported by satellite clinics across the region the department serves as a major hub for neurosurgical expertise in Southwest Virginia.
Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program or Accredited Physician Assistant Program.
Experience: Minimum of three 3 years of clinical experience preferred. Additional experience may be required for some specialties.
Licensure certification and/or registration: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
Life Support: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NPR as required specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required specific to position.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing and appropriate certifying bodies. Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinics malpractice insurance carrier. Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems including electronic medical records.
