Job Summary
Registered Nurse Emergency Position Summary
Provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
Essential Functions
- Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration specimen collection clinical treatments and other medical care activities.
- Documents patient care provided.
- Monitors records and communicates patient condition to the care team physician patient and family.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living including personal hygiene elimination nutrition and ambulation.
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care including transfers discharges referrals and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
- Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age culture condition and circumstances.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
- Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Patient Populations Served: Neonate Infant Early Childhood Late Childhood Adolescent Young Adult Middle Adult Older Adult.
Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic Clinical Insurance Financial Complete Medical Record.
Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing walking lifting/moving patients and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood and bodily fluids hazardous medications and latex.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities required.
Education: Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
License: /Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS PALS and Handle with Care preferred.
