Innovation at TUH
This is an exciting time to be working in digital healthcare innovation as technology continues to evolve new digital tools and innovations will address some of the most pressing challenges in global healthcare 2022 TUH established the first pan hospital designated Innovation office on the island of Ireland- Innovate Health @ TUH (insert website). Since that time we have grown in scale. Our Research and Innovation Strategy 2024-2029 outlines our vision and ambition with the new capital build of a dedicated innovation unit on campus. Innovation projects in the Innovate Health pipeline span across all areas and can be digital and non-digital. We work closely with the TUH Research team to facilitate the translation of cutting edge research to the real world setting.

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Innovation Healthcare IT Digital Manager to work within the Innovation Office and liaise with our IT teams to support and drive digital innovation within our healthcare organization and ultimately across the healthcare system as a whole. The ideal candidate will be passionate about integrating cutting-edge technology solutions to improve patient care operational efficiency and healthcare service delivery. This role will involve working closely with healthcare professionals Industry (SMEs and International companies) Academia IT teams and leadership to test innovative digital solutions that could optimize healthcare processes and enhance patient experiences.

purpose of the role:
The senior Innovation IT/Digital Manager will work within the Innovation office of the Hospital. TUHs Innovation pipeline of projects is fully established with a number of digital projects delivered active and in the process of kicking off. The senior Innovation IT/ Digital Manager will work closely with our IT Liaison Manager and IT teams to manage and oversee digital projects in a sand box environment. On close out of the innovation projects an evaluation of the sustainability and potential scalability of the solution will be assessed by leadership and hand over to operations will occur if appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Innovation Leadership: Support the evaluation and implementation of new digital technologies that align with the organizations healthcare goals. Working on local national and international projects.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to support the delivery of the strategic vision for digital healthcare innovations in TUH. Deliver digital transformation initiatives including wearable technologies Artificial Intelligence patient engagement platforms to name a few.
  • Project Management: In close collaboration with the hospital IT Teams oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of digital health innovation projects in a sandbox environment prior to hand over to operations. This includes project scoping resource planning budgeting timelines and ensuring efficient execution in a timely manner in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Digital Health Solution Implementation: Lead the real-world testing of new digital tools into existing healthcare IT infrastructures. Ensure interoperability data security and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with clinicians healthcare providers IT teams and external Innovate Health partners e.g. Industry Academia and Government bodies as required.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented solutions. Monitor KPIs to measure success and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Patient-Centric Design: Advocate for solutions that enhance patient experience increase access to care and improve patient outcomes through digital solutions
  • Change Management: Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth delivery of new innovation projects by healthcare staff.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure that all digital solutions comply with healthcare regulations standards and best practices in cybersecurity to protect patient data and maintain confidentiality.
  • Business analysis experience to elicit requirements and ensure that the selected projects meet the short term and potentially long term requirements
  • Commitment to Continuous Professional Development including completion of relevant internal training programmes.


Qualifications & Experience required
Must have:
  • Degree in relevant field
  • 5 years relevant experience
  • Minimum of 2 years Supervisory / Management experience
  • Practical and demonstrable experience of use of ICT systems / packages
  • Fluent command and understanding of the English language to include spoken and written word.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to drive innovation while ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards.
Desirable:
  • Masters in a relevant field
  • Experience in the Health Sector environment
  • Supervisory / Management experience
  • Change management experience
  • Project Management Qualification


Reward & Recognition
  • This appointment is whole time permanent and pensionable.
  • Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales grade code 0582. Current remuneration with effect from 1st August 2026: 60013 by 11 increments to 78015incl. 2 LSIs.
  • The annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year plus 10 bank holidays per annum as they occur. The annual leave year runs from 1st of April to 31st March each year.
  • Normal working hours are 35 worked over 5 days. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement.
