PG Bison a proudly South African world-class manufacturer of wood-based decorative panels and associated products is seeking an experienced Logyard Foreman to join our dynamic Production team at our Boksburg site.

This pivotal Logyard role is responsible for the effective and safe management of all Logyard operations with a strong focus on timber receiving and stock control chip production housekeeping and the operational control of chipping equipment. The position plays a critical role in ensuring optimal material flow to production while maintaining high safety and quality successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capability proven technical expertise and a commitment to operational excellence within a high-performance manufacturing environment

Duties & Responsibilities

The Logyard Production Foreman will be responsible for the effective and safe management of Logyard operations with particular focus on timber stock control chip production and operational control of chipping equipment. The role ensures optimal chip supply to production through accurate recording monitoring and analysis of Logyard production activities .
Take full operational control of the Logyard and Chipping Operations.
Manage and coordinate the operation of Bruks and Norman chippers to meet production requirements.
Ensure continuous and reliable chip supply in line with plant demand and quality standards. Monitor chip quality sizes and consistency and take corrective action
Supervise Logyard operators chipper operators and support
Ensure chippers conveyors and mobile equipment are operated correctly and safely.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to plan and execute preventative and breakdown maintenance.
Manage timber stock levels ensuring accurate receiving stacking rotation and usage of logs.
Ensure FIFO principles are applied to prevent timber degradation and losses.
Maintain accurate timber stock records and reconcile physical stock with system records.
Minimise timber losses wastage and handling damage
Record daily production activities including:

- Timber consumption
- Chip production volumes
- Machine uptime and downtime
- Production losses and variances
Analyse production data to identify trends inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
Compile and submit accurate daily weekly and monthly production report
Ensure strict compliance with SHE policies procedures and legal requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)
Diploma in Production or Operations Management/ Timber Wood Technology
2 -5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing or technical environment
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Production process orientated
