Job Summary
- Facility Information:
- Academic medical center with 885 licensed beds; Level 1 Trauma Chest Pain and Stroke Center.
- Located at 1 Medical Center Blvd Winston-Salem NC 27157.
- Unit Details (4A):
- 8-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit.
- Average daily census: 8 patients.
- Patient ratio: RN 1:4 CNA 1:8.
- General medical patients with some cardiac cases (common diagnoses: pneumonia UTI chest pain fluid overload).
- Experience & Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year RN experience required.
- Travel experience preferred but not required.
- Required certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS.
- Skills Needed:
- Proficiency in PCA surgical drains wound care.
- Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
- Experience with Cardizem/Amiodarone drips preferred but willing to train.
- Support Staff & Resources:
- Support from CNA receptionist/HUC charge nurse (free-floating) phlebotomy (peripheral blood draws) 24/7 RT hospitalist and intensivist.
- RNs responsible for IV starts and telemetry strip interpretation.
- Telemetry monitoring provided on the unit.
- Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Epic.
- IV Pumps: Alaris.
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell.
- Equipment: PCAs trachs complex wound care.
- No in-room monitors.
- Floating & Orientation:
- May float to any adult unit based on competencies.
- Orientation includes NEO and 2 days departmental training.
- Other Information:
- Scrub color: Royal Blue.
