Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontaminating inspecting assembling packaging sterilizing storing and distributing instruments equipment and supplies used in surgical and medical procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of sterile processing techniques infection control practices and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The technician may float between like units including the Pacific Campus.

Responsibilities:
- Decontaminates cleans and sterilizes surgical instruments and equipment.
- Inspects instruments for cleanliness proper function and defects.
- Assembles instrument trays and sets according to established procedures.
- Packages and labels instruments and equipment for sterilization.
- Operates and monitors sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and Sterrad machines.
- Stores and distributes sterile supplies and equipment.
- Maintains accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Picks cases based on supply knowledge.
- Collaborates with surgical staff to ensure availability of necessary instruments and supplies.
- Participates in quality control and performance improvement activities.
- Answers unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems. Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs. Notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Performs any other related duties (e.g. clerical technical duties) as assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing.
- Acute Hospital experience.
- Knowledge of Trauma/Implants.
- Knowledge of Loaner Trays.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with Neuro Ortho robotics URO general and GYN surgical instruments.
- Experience with EPIC charting system.

Special Considerations:
- May float to Pacific Campus (less than 2 miles away).
- Must be able to work rotating weekends.
- Trauma and implants experience preferred.

Scheduling:
- 5x8 hour evening shifts 1400-2230.
- Guaranteed 70 hours per 2 week period.
- Traveler can be called off for 1 shift per 2 week period.
- Rotating weekends required.
