Job Summary:
The Virtualization Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support administration and optimization of virtualized infrastructure including VMware vSphere ESXi hosts Horizon and Microsoft Hyper-V environments across production and test/development platforms. This role involves managing virtual machines monitoring system performance troubleshooting issues and participating in capacity planning and upgrades.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and support VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V clusters across production and test/development environments.
- Build configure test and maintain virtual machines.
- Monitor system performance resource utilization and overall health of the virtualization environment.
- Detect troubleshoot and resolve VMware/Hyper-V issues.
- Assist with VMware Horizon administration as needed.
- Fine-tune VM configurations for optimal performance.
- Participate in capacity planning for compute storage and network resources.
- Provide guidance on best practices new technologies and potential infrastructure improvements.
- Recommend structural and design improvements for future virtualization upgrades.
- Analyze the current vSphere environment and provide upgrade recommendations.
- Apply ESXi host updates firmware updates and necessary vulnerability patches.
- Develop and execute test plans for installations upgrades and repairs including back-out plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations processes and changes.
- Create documentation for new functionality and updated procedures.
- Provide coaching and knowledge transfer to technical staff.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- 5 years of hands-on experience administering and supporting VMware and Hyper-V environments.
- Strong experience with vSphere administration including vMotion storage migrations and P2V conversions.
- Basic understanding of Unix/Linux systems.
- Solid expertise with vSphere performance tools and capacity planning.
- Excellent communication troubleshooting and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proactive in research problem-solving and issue resolution.
