About the Opportunity

Or client a leading automation machinery manufacturer is seeking an Expert Data Operations/Redshift Engineer to run optimize and scale AWS-based data platforms supporting analytics and AI initiatives. This role is ideal for a senior-level data platform professional who thrives in production environments understands performance tuning at scale and can enforce strong governance and security standards.

You will partner closely with developers architects operations and governance teams to ensure highly available secure and observable data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize Amazon Redshift performance (distribution keys sort keys WLM concurrency scaling query tuning).

  • Support and tune Amazon Athena for high-performance analytics workloads.

  • Design build and operate scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue (Spark).

  • Orchestrate workflows using Apache Airflow Step Functions and event-driven services.

  • Apply best practices for partitioning compression and columnar storage.

  • Manage semantic layers and metadata to enable reliable analytics and AI use cases.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to ensure high availability and reliability.

  • Implement observability using CloudWatch CloudTrail and AWS-native monitoring tools.

  • Automate data processes using Python advanced SQL and AWS services.

  • Enforce data security and governance using Lake Formation IAM and least-privilege access controls (including row- and column-level security).

  • Implement cross-account access strategies and assume-role patterns.

  • Write and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform.

  • Continuously improve data architecture by adopting AWS best practices and emerging patterns.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations Data Governance and PMO teams to meet standards and delivery goals.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including:

    • S3 KMS Lambda

    • Glue (Spark) SQS EventBridge

    • Step Functions

  • Deep expertise in:

    • Redshift performance tuning

    • Athena optimization

    • Advanced SQL (joins window functions aggregations)

  • Strong understanding of distributed data systems and Spark architecture.

  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.

  • Proficiency with IAM roles policies assume-role and cross-account access.

  • AWS networking fundamentals: VPC subnets routing tables NAT gateways security groups.

  • Experience building serverless and event-driven data pipelines.

  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Authorization

We are unable to sponsor new employment visas including OPT or CPT. Candidates must be authorized to work permanently in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

Work Location

Preferred candidates will be based in Nashville TN. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 4 days per week onsite.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected compensation range for this U.S.-based full-time position is $114400 $150000 per year inclusive of base pay and short-term incentive.

Individual pay within this range is determined by factors such as experience skills education and performance.
