Project Overview

Client is seeking a highly experienced Kafka Infrastructure Administrator to support and manage critical Kafka messaging infrastructure. This is a hands-on administration and support role focused on maintaining troubleshooting and optimizing Kafka environments.

Development is not the focus of this role. The selected candidate must be capable of resolving critical Kafka production issues from Day 1 without training.

This position supports teams across the U.S. and Canada and includes participation in an on-call rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Kafka and Confluent Kafka environments in production.
  • Build configure and manage Kafka clusters including large-scale multi-node environments.
  • Install upgrade and maintain Confluent Platform components (Kafka Control Center Schema Registry Connect Replicator Security Plugins).
  • Handle critical Kafka incidents and production issues.
  • Perform system analysis troubleshoot performance issues and implement solutions.
  • Manage consumer lag partition strategies replication settings and cluster performance.
  • Support Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) components including Kafka brokers and Zookeeper.
  • Collaborate with technology teams Product Owners Business Analysts and Systems Analysts to evaluate system impacts and requirements.
  • Identify risks vulnerabilities and security concerns within Kafka infrastructure and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and allocate work as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotation (approximately once every 3 4 weeks on Saturday and Sunday). If assigned weekend support two weekdays will be adjusted to maintain a 40-hour work week.
  • Join support calls with U.S. and Canada-based teams as required.

Required Qualifications

  • 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka Confluent Kafka and Kafka administration.
  • Proven experience building and managing Kafka clusters.
  • Expertise installing and maintaining Confluent Platform components.
  • Experience with Kafka brokers Zookeeper Schema Registry Connect clusters and Control Center.
  • Experience managing large-scale multi-node Kafka environments.
  • Experience with automation and self-service frameworks.
  • Strong scripting experience.
  • Ability to handle high-priority Kafka incidents independently.
  • Bachelors degree required.

  • Masters degree.
