Job Summary

Position : Data Modeler

Location : Remote

Term : W2/Full Time Role

Job Description :

This role will work closely with Data Architects Business SMEs ETL/ELT Engineering teams and Cloud Platform teams to design optimize and maintain data models that enable analytics operational reporting and advanced data products across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in conceptual logical and physical data modeling hands on experience in cloud native data lakes and strong knowledge of automotive/manufacturing industry data is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Data Modeling & Architecture

Design conceptual logical and physical data models for enterprise cloud migration initiatives.
Develop optimized dimensional (star/snowflake) and 3NF models for analytics and operational workloads.
Create and maintain data dictionaries metadata lineage and mapping documents.
Translate complex business requirements into scalable and efficient data models.

Cloud Data Lake & Migration

Support the migration of on premise data sources into AWS S3 based Data Lake.
Work with engineering teams to structure data for ingestion using Databricks notebooks Spark Delta Lake and ETL/ELT pipelines.
Ensure models support data quality governance partitioning strategies schema evolution and performance optimization.
Collaborate on data lake zone design (Raw Curated Semantic) and enforce modeling best practices.

Collaboration & Governance

Work with Business Analysts and SMEs to understand data domains such as: Supply Chain Dealership Operations Vehicle Distribution Finance Warranty Inventory Sales.
Partner with Data Governance teams to ensure models align to enterprise standards stewardship practices and compliance policies.
Provide guidance to developers on how to implement models efficiently in Spark and Databricks.

Technical Documentation & Standards

Create clear complete documentation for data flows models relationships and business rules.
Define and maintain modeling standards and naming conventions.
Support metadata automation and catalog integration (e.g. AWS Glue Catalog Unity Catalog Collibra).

Required Skills & Experience

Core Skills

7 years of experience in data modeling for enterprise environments.
Strong command of ER modeling dimensional modeling and semantic layer design.
Hands on experience with AWS data ecosystem including:
- S3 Data Lake
- Glue Catalog
- IAM Lambda (nice to have)
3 years experience with Databricks.
Proven experience in migrating on premise data warehouses to cloud data lake/data Lakehouse platforms.
Experience working with databases such as SQL Server Oracle Teradata Snowflake etc.
