Job Overview
Tekberry is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to support equipment installation and manufacturing engineering projects for our client a global leader in advanced materials and manufacturing technologies. This role plays a critical part in supporting construction installation debugging and startup of manufacturing equipment and automated systems.
The position requires a hands-on engineer who will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor working directly with equipment and installation teams. The engineer will provide technical leadership during equipment installation commissioning and conversion projects while ensuring safe and efficient project execution.

Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Installation & Manufacturing Support
Provide mechanical discipline support for installation startup and commissioning of manufacturing equipment and automated systems
Work hands-on with equipment through installation debugging and operational turnover to manufacturing teams
Support both domestic and international manufacturing installations as needed
Interpret engineering drawings schematics and specifications to support installation and troubleshooting
Leadership & Project Coordination
Lead and supervise internal engineering technicians maintenance teams and outside contract trades during equipment installation activities
Provide direction during demolition construction installation testing and debugging of production equipment
Coordinate activities across multiple workstreams to maintain project timelines and objectives
Engineering Analysis & Problem Solving
Evaluate process variables including flow temperature pressure rate and level to ensure proper system functionality
Determine and recommend optimal engineering solutions within plant guidelines
Translate engineering requirements into process and equipment designs that meet performance specifications
Troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment performance issues
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with mechanical process and IT engineering teams to ensure complete system functionality and design integration
Collaborate with project leaders department managers and site leadership to support project goals and manufacturing performance
Communicate technical updates and recommendations effectively to project stakeholders
Safety & Continuous Improvement
Maintain a strong safety focus and proactively promote job site safety practices
Support a team-based environment that encourages continuous improvement and problem-solving
Ensure work activities comply with plant safety standards and operational procedures
Qualifications:
Required Education
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience working with production equipment
Experience supporting equipment installation debugging and startup activities in a manufacturing environment
Required Skills
Hands-on experience working with manufacturing equipment using hand tools measurement devices and alignment instruments
Strong understanding of mechanical drive trains electrical actuators and pneumatic systems
Familiarity with process piping system design and P&IDs
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Understanding of process variables including flow temperature pressure rate and level
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong safety mindset and proactive safety practices
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading trades or supervising installation teams
Experience supporting manufacturing equipment installations or plant expansion projects
Background working with automated manufacturing systems
Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional engineering environments
Experience presenting technical updates to leadership or project teams
Work Environment:
100% onsite in Wilmington NC manufacturing facility
Majority of work performed on the production floor supporting equipment installation and commissioning
Fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting engineering projects
Occasional overtime may be required during installation and startup phases
